Growing up, my parent’s nickname for me was Jessie-Cupcake, so it should be no surprise that I ended up as a cake designer! My journey to becoming a cake designer is rather unique. I didn’t go to culinary school, but rather I received an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology and am currently pursuing a doctoral degree in health sciences. I started making and designing cakes as a way to express my creative side. Cake making to me represents a perfect marriage of art (design) and science (execution). A few cakes for friends and family quickly snowballed into a much larger enterprise, and in 2007 Jessica Berard Cakes was launched.
My friends describe me as energetic and passionate. It is with this enthusiasm that I approach every cake project, and I constantly strive to create cakes that exceed my customer’s expectations.
